Think we are healthy? Think again!

The United States ranks 37th in longevity, behind Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica and Greece, even with all our medical technology and pharmaceutical innovations.  Last year the American Academy of Pediatrics said that, unless current lifestyle trends reverse, one-third of all children born today can expect a shorter life than their parents. Since 1999, heart disease in the U.S. has risen 9.3%, cancer 19.6% and diabetes 34.5%, according to the Dept. of Health & Human Services.

I read this almost a year ago. I still find it startling. It is one of the things that caused me to begin this blog on health (and happiness). Be well.
